A highly complex redevelopment which will provide 100,000 sq.ft. of high quality office accommodation within two buildings and will be occupied by around 1,000 Sellafield workers, relocating from the nearby Sellafield Plant.
The scheme costs are in the region of £18 million and was a project initially commissioned by Copeland Borough Council who appointed a multi-disciplinary professional team to work up detailed proposals, of which Thomas Lister formed part.
The scheme will provide much needed new office development and investment to the town and is likely to be catalytic in attracting other new investment to Whitehaven.
Rachel Lister from Thomas Lister said “A project thwart with all sorts of difficulties arising from physical characteristics of the site and lack of an established office market in Whitehaven which created significant viability issues. The professional team working with our clients were able to overcome these barriers to project delivery through innovative thinking and close working relationships within the team”.
